SHERRY FAMILY
Hello! We are the Sherry family.
Since 2016, we have owned and operated Wahroonga Belmont Reds, a cattle breeding business in Clarke Creek – right in the heart of Queensland cattle country between Mackay and Rockhampton.
We started Wahroonga Belmont Reds with a line of cows dispersed from the CSIRO breeding programme and from Corymbia Belmonts. Since that moment, we’ve never looked back.
Wahroonga is on the Broadsound Range and has a good mix of brigalow scrub soils with improved pastures to complement the rolling hills of ironbark and blue gum timber which are grassed with native pastures and legumes. This is ideal country for breeding.
BREEDING
When it comes to breeding, our philosophy is uncompromising. We strive to breed sires that are suited to all conditions and which produce low maintenance, highly fertile progeny with high yielding carcasses that will suit future markets. We believe this is the animal that will make more profit.
Visitors to our family business will see our passion for breeding cattle suitable to our environment. The family is involved in the husbandry and recording involved with stud breeding.
We also know that modern cattle breeding is all about combining practical experience with up-to-date knowledge of genetics and breeding techniques. With both skill and expertise behind us, we are able to constantly improve the genetic makeup of our livestock.
The modest success we’ve had in both local and national carcass competitions over the past decade demonstrate that our focus is on the end product: the consumer.
